Cambridge Rindge & Latin School

To truly appreciate the acoustical and aesthetic performance of this newly renovated space, we should have done a before and after. An untreated concrete ceiling with scattered, glued on acoustical tiles was not only an eyesore but did nothing to control reverberation. With the tiles removes, 1/2" of SonaSpray "fc" Arctic White was applied during a total renovation of the space. Transition Complete!

Acoustics without architectural distraction. SonaSpray "fc", virtually invisible, allowed Moser Pilon Nelson Architects in Wethersfield Connecticut to ensure minimal reverberation without detracting from the simple exposed construction design. Providing a Noise Reduction Coefficient of .75, the application also controls condensation on the metal deck.

Malden YMCA

Nothing speaks of the performance and condensation control properties of Sona-Spray "fc" more than another application in a natatorium. This beautiful renovation and addition of the Malden YMCA utilized .5" of Sona-Spray "fc" to lower reverberation and control condensation on the exposed metal surfaces. The application insures the owners will enjoy years of trouble free operation within this difficult environment.

Malden YMCA Therapy Pool

Malden YMCA adds Sona-Spray "fc" to the therapy pool area following the application in the main pool. Design continuity, controlling acoustics, and the response following the main application prompted additional work at the new YMCA in Malden Massachusetts. Applied at .5" with a Noise Reduction Coefficient of .65, the application softens the acoustical reverberation and the appearance of the exposed metal deck.

Keefe Technical School

There is no more of a hostile environment for building materials than an indoor swimming pool, and that is what makes this project so interesting. The recently completed application of K-13 was not the first for the Framingham Technical School. Thirty two years before, when the school was being built K-13 was selected to control acoustical performance. With the underlayment of plaster finally delaminating from the concrete T’s the 32 year old K-13 had to be removed with small scrapers before the new application could begin. Are there any questions regarding bond strength?

The poured in place concrete ceiling offered no help in controlling the over 4 second reverberation time in this lower level pool enclosure. Sona-Spray, applied at a thickness of 1", Arctic White, is providing a Noise Reduction Coefficient of .90 along with a GE light reflectivity of over 85%. The application of Sona-Spray, in conjunction with sufficient air handling equipment, will provide years of enjoyment for all visiting campers.
