Tavern in the Square

Tavern in the Square

Soaring ceilings in this creative design by Sousa Design Architects comes without the roar and reverberation that is normally inherent with this type of sports bar/restaurant. Instead, what we have is an environment where bar patrons can enjoy themselves without affecting guests in the restaurant. The 1.5” of Dark Grey K-13 provides a Noise Reduction Coefficient of 1.05 on the 3.5” fluted metal deck.

Not Your Average Joes Restaurant

Not Your Average Joe's

There is not a restaurant owner around that does not realize the acoustical performance of their dinning space is paramount. The hard fact that you often only get one chance to impress and make the customers feel comfortable is a harsh reality. The white K-13 in this application is providing high performance reverberation control while conforming to the open ceiling concept the architect was looking for.

Liberty Wharf

Liberty Wharf

This cozy space that spills out onto the sidewalk of Liberty Wharf required a true “blackout effect” to help enlarge the space to the human eye. The selection of K-13 not only fulfilled that requirement, but also ensured the narrow space would not be an echo chamber for its loyal customers. From the unique location to the eye catching architectural design, this eatery is a must see.

Shabby Chic is all the rage, but without function behind all the form, it doesn’t work. RODE Architects knew acoustical performance could be the difference between happy customers and one time customers. K-13 Black was applied at a 1” thickness on the fluted metal deck providing a Noise Reduction Coefficient of .90, completing this dramatic architectural design. Perfect example of acoustical performance, without being seen.

Urban Grape

The Urban Grape

The last thing the owners of the new Urban Grape in Boston Massachusetts wanted was for the customers to be in a hurry to escape the echo and reverberation from the coffered concrete ceiling while they were shopping for their wine. This clean crisp application of SonaSpray ”fc” maintained the rustic construction look while providing state of the art acoustical control. Stop in, pick up a bottle of wine, and see for yourself.

Chapel Grille

Chapel Grille

It’s difficult to upstage the dining experience at the beautiful Chapel Grille in Cranston Rhode Island but this application of SonaKrete is trying its best. Design and architecture of this quality is rare in today’s number crunching world of construction. From the classic lines on the exterior of the structure to the finishing touches on the interior, this is a stop worth making. To ensure complete enjoyment while dining, the Jefferson Group chose troweled SonaKrete to absorb any unwanted echo and noise in the wine cellar dining areas.

Jonathans Bar & Grille

Jonathan's Bar & Grille

Modern and contemporary describe the cuisine and interior design of the new Jonathan's Bar & Grille in Newton Massachusetts. The open ceiling concept, including exposed ducts pipes and high ceilings, was going to require special attention to acoustical performance. Applied at 1", the Black K-13 was the perfect fit. Along with providing a Noise Reduction Coefficient of .75, the K-13 offered a softening of the ceiling, disguising the imperfections in the substrate.

Red Robin

Red Robin Restaurant

You have to look hard, but Red Robin knew the unseen benefits of this application of K-13 would be well worth it. As in many of the K-13 applications in restaurants, the main goal is not to be seen and not be heard. Applied above the suspended drop ceiling clouds, the K-13 eliminates the drum effect which can occur between the structural deck and the various suspended systems. The fact that it would be visible in certain areas lead the chain to decide they would have the K-13 applied in their custom Red color.

Bella Luna

Bella Luna Restaurant

The new Bella Luna Restaurant in Jamaica Plain taps K-13 for acoustical control in this eye popping architectural design. Applied in Black at 3", the application not only wipes out any chance of reverberation from the entertainment inside the club, but assists in controlling sound transmission to surrounding neighbors and adjacent tenants. There are not too many types of K-13 applications that are more important in the end result than in this type of venue.

CBS The Scene

CBS The Scene

How about one more application of K-13 at Patriot Place. Applied on several of their sets across the country, K-13 is certainly not new to CBS or Patriot Place. There are not many materials that can offer this type of multipurpose performance, including the black-out effect along with unsurpassed Noise Reduction Coefficients. No fire retardant coatings needed here, K-13 is a Class "A" Non-Combustible.

Brew Moon

Brew Moon Restaurant

Ambiance, which can be affected by acoustical performance, can be the difference between success and failure for any restaurant. The Brew Moon at the South Shore Plaza chose Black K-13, applied at a thickness of 1”, to control reverberation while enhancing the spectacular architectural design. With the open floor plan of over 8,000 square feet, the problem of sound transmitting from the bar area to the dinning room was a major concern. The application of Black K-13 allowed the designers to focus on aesthetics while having confidence in the finished acoustical performance of the space.
